No More Worries About Alien Crosstalk
Unlike Cat 6, the adoption of Cat 6A often brings a shift to shielded systems, primarily for their robust immunity to EMI. Alien Crosstalk, being a type of EMI, is naturally mitigated with Shielded Patch Cords. The shielding significantly reduces external noise, leaving virtually no power-sum noises.
Interestingly, many Cat 6A Unshielded Patch Cords on the market are constructed with screened cables and unscreened plugs, reducing the difference between shielded and unshielded solutions. With that in mind, why not opt for the top-tier Cat 6A Shielded Patch Cord?
Here’s an illustration of the standard 6-around-1 bundle setup, featuring a 10-meter permanent link with 1-meter patch cords at each end. With effective grounding, external noise is nearly undetectable throughout the entire channel.
At HCI, we offer a variety of patch cords based on conductor size, but one constant is our unwavering commitment to Component-Rated Performance.
Go slim!
Choosing the right conductor size is all about balance. Larger conductors offer stronger signal strength, while smaller conductors improve handling flexibility. Cat 6A Shielded Patch Cords with 26AWG wires hit the sweet spot, striking a perfect balance between signal attenuation and cable manageability. This configuration ensures compliance with the ideal 98-meter channel length, comprising a 90-meter permanent link and 8 meters of patch cords.
For more compact cabling needs, check out our 28AWG and 30AWG options. These slimmer patch cords reduce the total channel length to a range of 60 to 80 meters, depending on the balance between the permanent link and patch cord lengths. For example, a 75-meter permanent link paired with a 10-meter 28AWG patch cord offers smoother routing through cable ducts and trays while maintaining the expected Component-Rated performance.
Slimmer cords mean less strain, tighter bending radii, and an ideal solution for modern rack-to-rack connections in telecom rooms.
